Introduction

Alright, well here it is.

I have always thought Orchids were interesting. I think it must stem from my childhood, as every year my mother received them as a gift from a family friend. Similar to a corsage, the ones she received in the mail were just the blooms, cut with a small water filled vial surrounding the cut stem to preserver the bloom. Anyway, that is my theory as to my attraction to Orchids.

Over the last couple of years we, my wife Silvia and I, have given my mother Orchids on a few special occasions. Usually the Orchids given were Phalenopsis or Dendrobiums because they are what are readily available in the local stores. Last year my parents moved to England and we were given some of my mothers Phalenopsis for safe keeping, this spring everything started to bloom and “IT WAS ON”.
